This cherry pitting idea is so slick that I don’t believe I’ll eat many more cherries in the “chew-and-spit-out-the-pit” fashion. It won’t take long to get a rhythm with this method and when you do, you’ll be eating cherries like they are potato chips. It may actually be a bit dangerous. 😉
The Half Pint Hacks demonstrate the technique in the video. (The Half Pints are just the youngest generation of the Fresh Bites crew.)
You need a chopstick and a beer bottle (or any bottle with a similar-sized opening). That’s it.
Watch their technique and I’ll emphasize that I’ve had most success with a small but deliberate motion of my hand in poking through the cherry. If you go too slow, the pit may stay in. There is no need to lift the chopstick high for additional pressure. You’re as likely to miss and get frustrated.
No child eyes were poked in the making of this video.
