As fall settles in I direct you to one of our favorite fall kitchen gadgets: The Apple Peeler Corer Slicer by Progressive International.
We love this gadget.
It saves us a tremendous amount of kitchen time each fall and allows us to enjoy the apples that we freeze and dry all year long. We share it with friends and they bring us pies. We find it at thrift stores, buy it, give it to friends, and they bring us pies. As I mentioned, we love this gadget. 🙂
I give it a quick mention in the video below and direct you to a review that follows — my mom put it together a few years back.

The Apple Peeler Corer Slicer is a small gadget that can be stored in your pantry and brought out during apple season. It is clamped to your counter top easily with the use of a screwdriver to tighten it. (Watch the video at the bottom on tips.)
The beauty of this gadget is that you place a whole, clean apple on its mount and within seconds you have an “apple slinky” that needs one cut down the middle to create sliced of peeled apple. The “apple slinky” is our affectionate name for a peeled apple with spiral slices. The whole apples is still one but has a “slinky” appearance. Simply cut down the center for your slices. You can see the action at work in our close up video of the gadget.
You can create a powerful amount of apple slices with this gadget. In about one minute in our review video we created about 2 cups of peeled apple slices. Imagine focusing on the task instead of talking in a video and you will see that you can process a whole lot of apples quickly.
This gadget creates slices that are great for pies and dried apples. They are very thin which will reduce the cooking time and drying time. You will also have cooked apple treats with consistent slices that cook evenly, a benefit that is hard to achieve by hand.
The slices are a bit thin for snack and finger food. This gadget is more suitable for large apple processing projects.
In this video, I recommend keeping a screwdriver on hand to tighten the mount on the gadget. The key negative review of this gadget on Amazon is that consumers cannot keep it tightened. It wiggles and slows down the apple processing. A screwdriver is the key to a good experience.
In addition, very small apples will not peel well because the core tends to get caught on the gadget. Keep in mind these were very small apples that caused a problem. Most apples you find will work well with this gadget.
This gadget is priced typically under $20 for the budget-conscious consumer and will save hours of food processing every fall. We recommend that you buy it today to begin saving those hours in the kitchen. You can find one in a local kitchen gadget store or simply buy an apple peeler corer right now online. (This is our recommended apple peeler corer.)
